Hagia Sophia @ Night
May 2020, Turkey
6” x 8”
View from my hostel.
From the first time I saw the Hagia Sophia in my art history books in 1992, I knew I would visit it one day. It is one of the most excellent examples of Byzantine architecture and has survived the ravages of time and war. It was originally built as the epicenter of the Eastern Orthodox religion by Constantinople and opened in 537.
